I Want You

This record, the follow up to Scarborough Fair, features a slightly expanded band and introduces singer, Romeyn Nesbitt. Iā€™d met Romeyn at Sweet Basil in the fall of 1989. She had just returned from a two year sojourn in Paris and was hanging out at the club. I was so struck by her voice as she sat at the bar and sang Willow Weep for Me, I became determined to record that and some other songs that would feature her ā€“ and again pursue my own vision of the Gil Evans legacy ā€“ using well known material but not jazz standards. All of the pieces feature dazzling arrangements by Gil Goldstein.
